Infrastructure and renewable energy
In a significant step towards enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency, ELKA d.o.o. is excited to announce two major investments totaling €4.3 million.
We are investing €1.8 million in a new roof for our production and maintenance hall, which covers a total surface area of 30,000 m².
This upgrade will not only improve our facilities but also create a safer and more productive environment for our team. In addition to the infrastructure improvements, we are also committing €2.5 million to develop a 3.2 MW solar power plant.
This initiative aligns with the growing trend in Croatia’s renewable energy sector, where electricity production from solar energy has surged, experiencing a remarkable 100% increase in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Despite this impressive growth, as highlighted in a recent Forbes article, Croatia still lags behind the EU average in solar energy production. Currently, the country boasts a total of approximately 5,319 megawatts of installed power, which includes:
- About 2,000 megawatts from hydropower
- Around 1,000 megawatts from thermal power plants
- 1,160 megawatts from wind power
- 688 megawatts from solar power
With these investments, ELKA d.o.o. seeks to enhance its self-sufficiency, while also contributing to Croatia’s success in narrowing the gap with EU averages and promoting a sustainable future.
