In the organization of the Agency for export promotion and the Croatian Embassy in Albania, on February 23, 2007 was realized a meeting of the Croatian cable and electric materials producers with the Albanian companies as possible buyers. First we visited the Albanian agency for export promotion where we got the basic information on the Albanian economy, on their development plans and prospects. After that we went to our Embassy where we got more details and a better insight in the occurrences which enabled us to estimate the possibilities of the Albanian market.
Our next step was KESH – the Albanian electric-power supply – where we had a presentation of our production range and the quality we offer, and the managing director Mr. A. Beli informed us about their tender procedures and expressed their interest in our products.

In Tirana we also met the major electric materials dealer – A Bi Esse and the biggest assembler – contractor – En BI. In spite of their previous orientation mostly towards Italian, Greek and more and more Turkish, Macedonian and Bulgarian producers, we do believe that the presentation of our quality and the wide range of our production possibilities have aroused their interest.

In terms of infrastructure, the Albanian market is very poorly developed, but an aggressive development is present in all domains. The need for cables is large and will continue to grow, rendering free space for our appearance there, specially taking in consideration that they have no domestic production. Till now Elka has been only indirectly present at the Albanian market through Croatian and Macedonian contractors. Although we intend to keep that market approach, we do believe that this visit has been scheduled at the right moment and none too soon if we want to secure the positions which will enable Elka to participate directly at the Albanian cable market.
